Clients

Senior executives…

jonhdanner-tent John’s consulting practice is eclectic—reflecting the breadth of his background and the scope of his curiosity. Most clients are organizations who find themselves in strategically-challenged circumstances that require fresh thinking and different ways of managing. John’s style is direct, engaged and collegial, and includes organizations’ leaders and their teams.

. . . in business

John began his consulting career in college, and advising clients has been part of his portfolio ever since. He works for large multinationals as well as emerging ventures across a diverse industry landscape. For example, John has been:

  • Advisor to Intel’s “Make It Wearable” global challenge; leader of a team that worked with 40 semifinalist teams developing prototypes in multiple markets
  • Designer of a global innovation leadership program for one of the world’s leading management consulting firms
  • Chief advisor to Intel’s global entrepreneurship program focusing on youth and women; directed its “power of e” video; developed its integrated regional programs in the Middle East, Europe and South America
  • Architect of key aspects of long-term business strategy for $8-billion international diversified energy company, including the launch of successful new business initiatives in various industry and consumer markets
  • Strategist for a comprehensive HR review and intranet collaboration platform for a 15,000-employee business
  • Overseer of business process integration project for two leading companies in energy and water services
  • Director of major business strategy assignments for a significant US food products company, leading to substantial growth in shareholder value
  • Producer of both strategic planning and new business development initiatives for leading privately-held security and defense firm in network security and digital rights management

. . . and government

The public sector’s challenges have always intrigued John. The interplay of taxpayer funding, noble missions, management restrictions and politics makes for fascinating assignments, both here and abroad.  For example, John has:
  • Conducted major scenario planning strategic assessment for the Board and senior executive team of the organization responsible for operating California’s electricity grid
  • Facilitated a collaborative inter-agency “California’s Clean Energy Future” initiative among senior level policymakers, including the Governor of California and key members of his Cabinet
